Northern topped Allen Community College 3-0 for their third straight shutout.  The Mavs (3-1-1), as they usually do, controlled the ball from start to finish allowing the Red Devils hardly any possession and fewer chances.  Mia Yerian opened the scoring for the Mavericks sixteen minutes into the game after receiving a pass from Josie Jarvis.  That would be the only scoring of the first half, but it seemed like that goal would be enough as Maverick centerbacks Lexi Albright and Cierra Gann weren't allowing Allen any chances.

The second half would not start well for the Red Devils as one of Allen defenders deflected a Heidi Wiedmeier cross into their own goal to put the Mavericks up 2-0.  Luana San Miguel would put the game completely out of reach with a goal off an assist from Chloe Wilkins.  The Mavs emptied the bench after the San Miguel goal, but were still able to control the rest of the game.

"The game played out somewhat like I wanted," said coach Michael DuRoy.  "I thought there was a lot of good, but some bad.  There were plenty of teachable moments in the game.  I didn't like our effort and attitude from some players today.  We got away with it today, but it was addressed after the game, and hopefully we will learn from it.  Our centerbacks Lexi and Cierra are playing at a really high level right now.  We have given up less shots in the last four games than we have scored goals.  You don't have to be a mathematician to understand that, that is a winning formula."
