INDEPENDENCE, Kansas -- The NOC Lady Mavs lost in an 88-87 thriller at Independence on Wednesday night in the season opener.

Kaydrin Scott led the Lady Mavs with 23 points while Marta Perez added 21.  Brooke Robertson added 11 points while Maddy Wehrenberg had 10.

Scott had 18 rebounds for NOC while Perez added 15.  Scott added five steals for the Lady Mavs.

"It was a good, hard-fought game," said coach Greg Krause.  "We saw a lot of promising things on the road against a good team. We're looking forward to playing a two-game homestand."

The Lady Mavs host Cloud (KS) Saturday at 2 p.m. in the home opener and then hosts Cowley (KS) Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
