Mavs drop heartbreaker to Murray State 77-75

In a game of second half runs, Murray State made the last one count in a 77-75 win over the Mavs Monday night in Tonkawa.

The Mavs led Murray State 60-55 with 10:00 when the Aggies went on an 8-0 run to take a 63-60 lead.

NOC answered with a 11-0 run to build a 71-63 lead.  The Aggies then answered with an 11-0 run to take a 76-71 lead with 3:24 left.

A DJ Jones jumper cut the lead to 76-73 but Murray added one free throw to bump the lead to 77-73 with :31.4 left.

Another Jones basket cut the lead to 77-75 and after Murray missed two free throws the Mavs had a chance but Syrus Grisby's contested baseline jumper was off the mark.

Murray State led the Mavs 37-32 at half.

The Mavs were led by Syrus Grisby with 16 while Nick Cham added 15, Fede Federiko 14, and DJ Jones 11.

Federiko added 16 rebounds while Jones added four assists.  Nick Cham added five steals.

The Mavs (20-7) fell to 11-4 in league play while Murray State (19-9) improved to 10-5.

NOC Tonkawa is at Redlands Saturday to end the regular season.

The Region 2 playoffs are March 2-5 in Shawnee at OBU.
