Mavs earn split with #12 Western

ALTUS, Oklahoma -- Luke Shannahan drove in three runs and Cale Schroeder worked 3.2 innings of scoreless relief as NOC won at #12 Western 12-3 on Sunday salvaging one win in a three game series.

The Mavs lost the first game 6-1.

Shannahan, Matthew Stancliff, Blade Carver, Landen Johnson, and Ethan Rossi had two hits each as the Mavs outhit the Pioneers 12-6.

The Mavs jumped out to a 9-0 lead and were never threatened.

Carson Loyd picked up the win working 3.1 innings allowing three runs while Schroeder allowed just two hits in 3.2 innings of work.

In Game 1, the Mavs had eight hits but lost to Western 6-1.

Western broke open a 1-1 tie with four runs in the 4th to win the first game of the Sunday doubleheader.

Blade Carver had two hits including a double and a stolen base.  His 3rd inning hit scored Larry Edwards, Jr. with the Mavs' lone run.

Logan Taylor allowed six runs on eight hits.

The Mavs (22-8) are at Rose State Tuesday for a non-conference game in Midwest City.
