Western snaps Mavs' nine game winning streak

ALTUS, Oklahoma --  Western broke a 9-9 tie in the 8th inning scoring two runs in an 11-9 win over the Mavs in Altus, Oklahoma, in the first of a three game set.

The Mavs trailed the Pioneers 8-2 before rallying with six runs in the 6th to tie the game at 8-8.

After Western took a 9-8 lead, the Mavs tied the score in the 8th on an Elijah Laus home run before Western pushed across the go ahead runs.

Matthew Stancliff had two hits including a double and home run driving in four runs from the lead-off spot.  Landen Johnson also homered for the Mavs driivng in two runs.

Caleb Lunnon, David Brown, and Kaegan Baker worked for the Mavs from the mound.

The Mavs (21-7) who had won nine previous games, are at Western for a doubleheader Sunday at 1 p.m./3 p.m.
