Mavs beat Murray in extras 8-7

TISHOMINGO, Oklahoma -- Ethan Starks hit a 7th inning grand slam and then the Mavs scored the go ahead run in the 10th to beat Murray 8-7 in the first of a three game set in Tishomingo on Friday.

NOC trailed the Aggies 4-1 in the 7th when Luke Shannahan singled home Breck Carver who led off the inning with a double.  Later in the inning, Starks homered scoring Landen Johnson, Shannahan, and Ethan Rossi.  Then, Larry Edwards, Jr. walked, stole second, and scored on a Matthew Stancliff single.

After Murray tied the score 7-7, the Mavs pushed the go-ahead run across in the 10th when Shannahan doubled and scored on an Aggie error.

Stancliff, Edwards, and Shannahan had two hits each for NOC.

Caleb Lunnon started for the Mavs allowing three earned runs on eight hits over six innnings.  Nakni Anna earned the win in relief working 3.2 innings of one hit relief, striking out five.

The Mavs (17-6) improved to 4-0 in conferece play.  They play a twin bill at Murray on Saturday.
