PINE BLUFF, Arkansas -- Four Maverick pitcher combined in a 5-1 win over Southeast Arkansas in Game 1 of a doubleheader Saturday.

The Mavs lost Game 2, 5-4.

Carson Loyd. Liam McKinney, Kaegan Baker, and Nakni Anna allowed one run on seven hits over nine innings.  The staff struck out eight and walked four with McKinney earning the win with 4.1 innings of scoreless relief.

Ethan Starks had two hits including a double, homerun, and two runs batted in.  Landen Johnson added two doubles for the Mavs.

SEARK scored one run in the 1st inning and that was it while the Mavs tied the game in the 4th and pushed ahead two runs each in the 5th and 6th.

In Game 2, Johnson and Luke Shannahan had two hits each in a 5-4 loss.

Johnson, Shannahan, and Blade Carver drove in runs for NOC.

Brendon Carter and Cale Schroeder allowed five runs on six hits while striking our seven Shark hitters.

The Mavs (12-6) host Redlands on Feb. 29 at 1 p.m.
