Mavs sweep Redlands in final home game

Eli Cartwright and Caleb Lunnon turned in stellar performances on the mound leading the Mavs to a 1-0 and 10-2 sweep of Redlands on Friday in the final home game of the season.

The Mavs (36-18) improved to 22-12 in conference while Redlands (21-33) fell to 21-33.

NOC Tonkawa is currently in 4th place behind South Arkansas, Murray State, and Western.

In Game 1, Cartwright tossed a one-hitter while striking out six and walking two.

NOC outhit Redlands 11-1 but scored just one run in the third when Thomas Dunn scored on a Cash Jay ground out.

That's all Cartwright would need as the lefty allowed no runner to reach second base.  He was helped by two Maverick double plays.

In Game 2, Lunnon worked 7.2 innings allowing one run on six hits.  Gage Norvell worked the final 1.1 innings allowing one run.

Preston Knott had three hits including a double, triple, and four runs batted in.

Jaylin Bennett homered for the Mavs while Cade Tucker added two hits.  Cash Jay had two runs batted in.

The Mavs conclude regular season play Sunday with two games at Redlands.
