Mavs sweep SAU Tech on Saturday 6-5, 9-7

Matt Stancliff singled home Thomas Dunn with the winning run in Game 1 leading to a sweep of Southern Arkansas Tech University on Saturday.

The Mavs won the first game 6-5 and the nightcap 9-7.

In Game 1, the Mavs led 5-0 until SAU scored five in the seventh to send the game to extra innings.

Dunn led off the eighth with a single and was doubled to third by Elijah Laus.  After Darian Duhon was walked intentionally, Stancliff singled home Dunn with the walk-off game winner.

Preston Knott had three hits for the Mavs while Dunn, Stancliff, and Duhon had two hits each.  Knott and Stancliff drove in two runs each.

Blake Priest earned the win in relief with a scoreless inning in back of starter Eli Cartwright and Cale Schroeder.

In Game 2, the Mavs trailed 5-2 before scoring four runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to take a 9-6 lead and held on for the 9-7 win.

Laus had four hits for the Mavs while Stancliff and Dunn had two runs batted in each.

Caleb Lunnon worked the first four innings while Brenden Kamnick worked the final three allowing two runs.

NOC (21-11) is 9-5 in conference while SAU Tech (14-17) is 3-11 in conference play.

The Mavs are at Rose State for a mid-week game Tuesday at 2 p.m.  NOC is at National Park (AR) for four conference games Friday and Saturday.
