Bucks Get Region Win over Northern Oklahoma

(September 25, 2022) Mena, Arkansas – Looking to get on track to start the new round of conference play, the Bucks had one opponent to left in the first round: Northern Oklahoma College – Tonkawa. The Mavs enter the match looking for their first region win at 0-3-1, while the Bucks are 1-2-1 before the day.

For the first 25 minutes of the half, the Bucks controlled the match and made a few unsuccessful runs that led to a couple of corner kicks. The Mavs did make a few counter runs, but the Bucks defense stayed strong to keep the match at 0-0. After the mid-point water break, the match went back and forth before a Mav breakdown resulted in a goal for the Bucks. The last Buck to touch the ball was Yoshua Kibasomba (Memphis, TN) in the 40th minute. The Bucks held a 1-0 lead at the half.

For the first 10 minutes of the second half, the match went back and forth until the Bucks got a turnover and made it count. Antonio Galarzo (Mallorca, Spain) played a ball in the middle to Josh Dhillon (Warrington, England). Dhillon played it across in front of the goal to Lushil Abbia (Johannesburg, South Africa) for the goal in the 57th minute to make it 2-0 for the Bucks. With the lead, the Bucks continued to pressure the Mavericks, and it paid off in the 71st minute. Christopher Tarr (Durban, South Africa) took the turnover and played it inside the box to Antonio Galarzo. After a move to the inside, Toni found the back post for the third goal of the game for the Bucks. The match continued, and the Mavs found the back of the net in the 85th minute to take away the clean sheet, but the Bucks would win 3-1.

The Bucks played again on Wednesday, September 28th, in Midwest City, Oklahoma against Rose State College. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 pm.
