(September 25, 2022) Mena, Arkansas – After a loss to the #3 team in the country on Wednesday, the ladies returned home for a region match against #20 NOC-Tonkawa. This would be the last match of the first round of conference play. The Bucks enter the match 2-4-0 in Region II, while the Mavs are 4-1-1.
After the Bucks took the opening kickoff and made a push down field, the Mavs controlled the half for the next 25 minutes and kept the ball on the Bucks defensive end. The Bucks made a counter in the 28th minute with good ball movement that put the ball in the box with a few opportunities, but the ladies couldn't connect on a goal. The Bucks made a few more runs, but NOC countered and found the back in the net in the 37th minute. After the kickoff, a defensive breakdown put another goal in the back of the net for the Mavs to make it 2-0, and that would be the score at the half.
The second half went about the same as the first half. The Mavs controlled the ball, and the Bucks made a few counters. NOC extended their lead in the 63rd minute. Fill in goalkeeper, Aroa Gallego Esteve (Alicante, Spain) made great save, but the Mavs put in the rebound for the third goal of the match. The Mavs would add a fourth goal later in the match at 81:20 to make it 4-0, which would be the final score.
The ladies play again on Wednesday, September 28th, at Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 pm.
