The #20 NOC Mavericks collected their fifth shutout of the year with a 2-0 win over Rose State on an unbelievably hot day in Tonkawa.  Northern took control of the game from the kickoff playing almost the entire first half on the Rose State side of the field.  The Raiders were able to stymie the Mavericks though despite Northern taking nine shots forcing the Rose State goalkeeper to make several quality saves.

The Mavs started fast in the second half with Luana San Miguel scoring her seventh goal of the season just two minutes after the break. Heidi Wiedmeier had the assist after a great build up by Northern.  Fifteen minutes later Celeste Maldonado scored her first goal as a Maverick after Chloe Wilkins shot off the post rebounded right to her feet.  Maldonado's goal effectively put the game away for the Mavericks despite the Raiders having a few chances late in the game.

"I give our girls a lot of credit," said coach Michael DuRoy.  "The conditions were miserable.  It was extremely hot.  We controlled the game in the first half, but Rose State is well coached and hard to break down.  They put a lot of players behind the ball and we just couldn't break through.  I challenged our forwards at halftime to get more movement and they responded.  Our midfield really controlled the game.  Other than a few counter attacks Rose State didn't threaten us much, and they have some good players.  Overall it was a good win, but we know there is a lot of room for improvement."
