Mavs women lose semi-final playoff game to Seminole

ENID, Oklahoma --  The Northern Oklahoma College women's soccer team lost their NJCAA Region 2 semi-final to 7th ranked Seminole State 1-0 on Saturday in Enid.

The loss ended the Mavs' season at  8-8-2.

Saturday's game was scoreless until the 76th minute when the Trojans scored what would be the winning goal.

The Mavs had two good chances in the game's final minutes but couldn't find the back of the net.

"I thought the women executed the game plan really well, we wanted to make it difficult for Seminole to really create chances and we just did that in the first half," said coach Jade Ovendale.  "Second half they scored one which made us open up more and we really got close with finding a equalizer. I thought our back line did a tremendous job of soaking up the pressure of Seminole's attack."

"All season we have had big moments in games that we have failed to capitalize and Saturday's game had a couple that we just didn't take," Ovendale added.  "I am proud of the effort we have given this year in games, one big characteristic this team has is that we will not give up. When we have been down in some games we have always thought we could get something out of it and honestly we have been close on some of the tougher match ups in our conference. The season coming to an end is always tough one to take however there is a few of positives when we look away from the results, and actually see the growth some of our individuals and team have taken."
