Mavs Women fall short to Seminole 3-0

NOC played a fine first 45 minutes but lost to Seminole 3-1 Wednesday.

The Mavs (1-5) came out strong and had a handful of opportunities in the first 45 minutes shooting Seminole 11-3 but came up short in finding the back of the net.  Skylar Yocham hit the crossbar, Nancy Herr had a shot from a corner cleared off the line by a defender and Corayma Torres hit a great free kick that was saved by Seminole goalkeeper.

Seminole created more chances outshooting NOC 11-2 and converting three opportunities.  Seminole was awarded a penalty from a handball in the box and then scored two from open play in the remaining 17 minutes of the game.

"I thought our first half we played well and were all over them," said NOC coach Jade Ovendale.  "We had some great chances but once again could not find the back of the net. If we score one of those in the first half things might look different in the second."

"In college soccer you are not always going to get loads of opportunities on goal so we have to be more clinical in front of the goal," she said.  "We are wasting good chances that can change our season. We have to make smarter decisions at the back and stay fully focused the entire game. If we can eradicate some mistakes and put the ball in the back of the net then we are going to look a completely different team."
