Lady Mavs shut out by Seminole

Seminole State's Yudaya Nakayeze scored on a penalty kick in the 52nd minute leading Seminole to a 1-0 win over Northern Oklahoma College Sunday afternoon at Tonkawa.

NOC (7-6-1) was outshot 16-12 by the Trojans (9-2-1).

"The loss against Seminole was a tough one to take," said interim head coach Jade Ovendale.   "The result does not reflect the performance from the team. I believe that was our best performance we have shown to date. We won more balls in the air, played some really nice combos up top and worked hard all game. It was a fairly even game that was decided by a penalty."

"I think our midfield of Emma Peak and Maddie Cochran did well," Ovendale added.  "Forward Megan Deshazo and attacking midfielder Piper Woodard worked non-stop for us and I always appreciate the work ethic they have. Our back line and goalkeeper Madeline Kindred did a good job too."

The team has strongly grown throughout the season and I believe we are ready for the tournament next weekend," she concluded.

After Sunday's contest, the Lady Mavs are in third place in NJCAA Region 2 with an afternoon contest Monday against Eastern the only game left on the schedule.
