ARKANSAS CITY, Kansas -- The NOC Lady Mavericks suffered their first loss of 2021-22 Wednesday night at Cowley 79-54.
The Lady Mavs (1-1) were led by Jordan Holman with 17 while Delaney Reimer had 13, and Morgan Holman 10.
"Our defensive reactions were slow tonight," said coach Greg Krause. "We shot poorly which isn't good versus a zone. We want tonight to be a learning experience moving forward."
Cowley jumped out to a 23-11 lead and built a 41-28 lead at half.
The Lady Mavericks had a 10-4 run early in the second half cutting the lead to 45-38 but Cowley then went on an 11-5 run to take a 56-43 lead going into the fourth.
Cowley then extended the lead with NOC never getting within 12 the rest of the way.
Reimer led the Mavs with six rebounds while Shelby Rayner and Lexie Boyer had two assists each.
NOC shot 30% from the floor and 22% from 3-point range. NOC was outrebounded 42-35.
The Lady Mavs host Southwest Christian JV at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse.
