Mavs softball splits two at Cowley

ARKANSAS CITY, Kansas -- The #18 Northern Oklahoma College Mavericks split a road doubleheader against Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas on Thursday.

NOC (16-5) won the night cap 8-2 after dropping the first game 3-2.

Mavs 8, Cowley 2

The Mavs broke open a 1-1 tie with seven runs in the 7th to rout Cowley College 8-2.

With the game tied 1-1, NOC sent 11 hitters to the plate scoring seven runs on six hits.

Kylie Garrett had the big blast with a bases clearing double while Madison Kettler added a two run single.

Jenna Chassie (8-1) allowed just two runs on eight hits striking out four.

Cowley 3, Mavs 2

Cowley College won the first game of the doubleheader on a walk-off home run in the 7th to edge the Mavs 3-2.

Taylor Lane (8-3) was the losing pitcher in the circle allowing three runs on just five hits while striking out seven.

Rachel Rumsey had the lone Mav run batted in with a first inning single scoring Aylin Nunez.

NOC would build the lead to 2-0 before Cowley scored two in the 5th to tie the game at 2-2 setting up the Cowley heroics in the 7th.

Kyia Monahwee had two hits for the Mavs including a double.
