Allen shuts out Mavs 1-0

Northern lost their fourth game of year, third by one goal, in a 1-0 home loss to Allen Community College on Wednesday.

It was a back and forth game for the most part with neither team able to capitalize on their chances.  Northern had a good chance in the first half, but Assanie Brown's shot hit the crossbar and rebounded out of bounds.  Allen was able to score early in the second half when a Northern midfielder failed to clear a loose ball in the box, which resulted in an easy tap in goal for the Red Devils.  After that the better chances all belonged to the Mavs.  Northern would put a shot off the post, and hit an open shot in the box over the goal.  Red Devil defenders cleared two balls off the line to keep the Mavs scoreless, and the Allen goalkeeper made two amazing point blank saves.

"At some point we have to have some breaks go our way," said coach Michael DuRoy.  "We have hit the post four times in the last two games.  If any of those go in we would be feeling a lot better about ourselves.  We have to put our losses behind us and focus on the next game.  We are going to make some changes that I think will help us.  We will be ready for NEO on Sunday."
