MIAMI, Oklahoma -- Northern picked up their second shutout in a row with a 4-0 win over NEO A&M Thursday night in Miami.

The win improved the Mavs' record to 7-1, 5-0 in Region 2.

Jesus Aleman started the Mavs on the right foot by blasting a shot that forced the Golden Norsemen goalkeeper into making a great save.  Unfortunately for NEO the ball rebounded off of the keeper to the feet of the leading scorer in the nation, Damorney Hutchinson.  Hutchinson shot into the empty net to give the Mavs the early lead.  The rest of the half was played mostly in the midfield with the Mavs creating quite a few chances and not allowing many for the Norsemen.  Late in the half Assanie Brown found Hutchinson in front of goal for Hutchinson's second goal of the night.

Northern would put the game away early in the second half with Daniel Clarke's first goal as a Maverick just minutes after the break.  Aleman was credited with his second assist of the night.  Hutchinson would strike again for the last goal off an assist from Kareem Williams.  The speedy Jamaican forward chased down a ball in behind the NEO defense and dribbled around the goalkeeper before shooting into the open goal.  The Mavericks would play the last thirty minutes of the game with their reserves, who were able to see out the game for the shutout.   Freshman goalkeeper Harry Archer picked up his second shutout in a row.

"It was great to get another shutout," said coach Michael DuRoy.  "We worked on our defensive shape a lot in practice this week.  It was better, but we are still a work in progress.  Damorney is scoring the majority of our goals, but I give a lot of credit to his strike partner, Jesus Aleman.  He works so hard up front and creates chances for our team.  We certainly wouldn't be the same team without him.  It's also great to see the growth in Harry Archer in goal.  He has all the tools to be really good.  He just needs to be confident and assertive."
