Gossett announces signees for the 2024-25 season

NOC Tonkawa Mavs Coach Brandon Gossett announced the signees for the 2024-25 season.  The following are bios and coach Gossett's comments for the 2024-25 signees.

 

Antwan Jones - 6'2 Guard 

Hometown: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

School: We Are United Prep (Nixa, MO)

 "Antwan is a combo guard who excels in the pick and roll, and is capable of knocking down shots on the perimeter, he will be a valuable piece as he is a great leader on and off the floor as well. Coming from We Are United we know Antwan is well coached and battle tested. United Prep does a great job developing players and has been known to turn out high level athletes."

 

Gor Ruey - 6'10 Forward

Hometown: Melrose, Minnesota

School: We Are United Prep (Nixa, MO)

 "Gor was a prep school teammate of Antwan Jones. Gor is a lengthy forward who has the ability to knock down shots, and use his length to score around the rim. We are excited about his versatility, and ability to block and alter shots on the defensive end. Gor, along side Jones at United Prep played top level Prep Schools and will be ready to go come October."

 

Boxy Wallace - 6'3 Guard

Hometown: Nassau, Bahamas

School: Community Christian High School (Norman, OK) 

 "Boxy is a strong guard who has the ability to finish at the rim at a high level. Boxy will be a key piece defensively for us as well. Boxy has a ton of potential, and we think his best basketball is still yet to come. I have coached multiple players from the Bahamas in the past and love their approach and passion for the game."

 

Kabron Lewis - 6'3 Guard

Hometown: Tulsa, Oklahoma

School: Nathan Hale High School (Tulsa, OK)

 "Kabron was a very good high school player from just up the road in Tulsa. He has a knack for scoring the basketball, and can get to the rim with ease. Kabron is a great teammate, and was a huge piece in turning the Hale HS basketball program around that only won 1 game his Freshman year before winning a total of 47 games in the next 3 years combined."  

 

Jack Riley - 6'7 Forward

Hometown: Delafield, Wisconsin

School: Marquette University (Milwaukee, WI)

 "Jack comes to us after being apart of a Marquette team who made the NCAA Sweet 16 last year. Jack is used to playing the highest level of competition day in and day out, while being coached by one of the best Head Coaches in college basketball, Shaka Smart. Jack will being toughness, and versatility to our roster, with the ability to score it inside and out. Jack and Antwan were high school teammates at Catholic Memorial HS in Waukesha, Wisconsin."

 

Affan Razzaq - 6'9 Forward

Hometown: Toronto, Canada

School: V3 Prep Academy (Toronto, Canada)

 "Affan is a long, athletic forward, who runs the floor hard, and excels in the 2 man game. Affan's ability to play above the rim both finishing on the offensive end, and blocking shots defensively will be a big advantage for us next season. He is a competitor who plays the game with intensity, and never backs down. Affan played high level competition at V3 Prep and will be ready to compete right away."

 

Benji Nelson - 6'8 Wing

Hometown: Wahoo, Nebraska

School: Golden State Prep (Napa, CA)

 "Benji is a wing who is long, and skilled. He can play off the bounce and create for his teammates, using his size to see over the top of defenses. Benji also has the ability to guard multiple positions defensively. Benji is a player I have recruited since High School, and was fortunate to form a great relationship with, leading him to becoming a Maverick after a prep school year in California. Benji comes from a really good High School program in Nebraska, and has all the tool and potential to be a high level player. We are excited to see him improve and help the team this coming season."

 

Jace Breath - 6'6 Wing

Hometown: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

School: John A Logan (Carterville, IL) 

 "Jace is a winner, and was recruited heavily out of high school as a State Champion at Douglass High School here in Oklahoma. Jace comes to us after a year at John A. Logan College, where he was able to gain valuable experience. Jace will be a great addition for us as he can spread the floor, and use his athletic ability to get to and finish around the rim. Jace comes from a basketball family, and we are excited to help him improve on and off the floor.

 

Ebi Bortey - 6'8 Center

Hometown: Moore, Oklahoma

School: Moore High School (Moore, OK)

 "Ebi is not only a great basketball player, he is an elite human, with high character. Ebi has great touch around the rim, and is light on his feet allowing him to create for himself, and his teammates. Ebi has the ability to protect the paint, and rebounds the ball at a high level. Ebi will be a huge asset to our team on the floor and off."

 

Levi O'Brien - 6'5 Wing

Hometown: Littleton, Colorado

School: Dawson Community College (Glendive, MT) 

 "Levi will transfer in after a year at Dawson Community College where he helped the Bucs to a 25 win season playing in all 32 games as a freshman. Levi has the ability to really shoot the ball, and understand how to move off the ball to create looks for himself. Levi is a good defender, who will be able to guard multiple positions for us next season."

 

Kody Hickerson - 6'0 Point Guard

Hometown: Memphis, Tennessee 

School: Whitehaven High School (Memphis, TN)

 "Kody is a battle tested guard who helped lead Whitehaven against some of the best high school teams in the nation this past year like Montverde Academy. He helped lead Whitehaven to a district title as the lead guard surrounded by youth. Kodys ability to knock down shots opens up his ability to get to the paint and set his teammates up. Kody's leadership and poise will be big for our success."

 

Xon Williams - 6'2 Guard

Hometown: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

School: Millwood High School (Oklahoma City, OK)

 "Xon comes from a highly successful high school program in Millwood. His experience there will help him progress into the college game easier. Xon is a tough nosed guard, who has the ability to get to the rim. Xon will be great for us defensively as he has the ability to move his feet and keep people in front of him."

 

Brandon Domsch - 6'6 Forward

Hometown: Broomfield, Colorado

High School: Legacy High School (Broomfield, CO)

 "We are very excited about Brandon and his potential. He has great athletic ability, and understands how to play the game. Brandon is a wiry forward who can score around the rim, catching lobs or using his strength to finish through contact. He will be a good defender too with his size, and ability to block shots."

 

Tanner Sharon - 6'4 Wing

Hometown: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

School: Mustang High School (Mustang, OK)

 "Tanner will be a great addition to the program as he plays very hard and is a competitor. Tanner has the ability to shoot the ball at a high clip, and will provide good spacing off the ball. Tanner is a high character individual, who is eager to learn, and be coached."
