Mavs lose in Region semi-finals to Murray 79-73

SHAWNEE, Oklahoma --  The 7th ranked NOC Mavs fell in the Region 2 Semi-Finals to Murray State 79-73 at OBU in Shawnee late Friday.

NOC (28-4) will now wait and see if they receive an at-large bid to the NJCAA National Tournament held the week of March 16.

The Mavs were led by Demaree King with 18 and Tyrel Morgan with 17.  Syrus Grisby had 12 points off the Maverick bench.

Avante Lederer had eight rebounds while King and JD Ray had four assists each.

For the game, the Mavs shot 39 percent from the floor and 28 percent from 3-point range.  Murray State shot 44 percent and 30 percent from beyond the arc.

NOC held as much an 11 point lead the first half and led 43-34 at half.

The Mavs held off one Murray run as the Aggies cut the lead to 60-56 but NOC countered building the lead back to 65-56 with 5:40 remaining.

Murray then went on a 10-0 run to take a 66-65 lead with 3:22 remaining.

NOC tied game at 66-66 but then Murray would build the lead to 70-66 and the teams would trade baskets, the Mavs cut the lead to two points on three occasions but NOC couldn't get a stop.

The Mavs cut the lead to 75-73 on a JD Ray layup with :16.5 left  but Murray sealed the win with four free throws down the stretch.
