Mavs blow out #18 New Mexico 91-66

ENID, Oklahoma --The Northern Oklahoma College men picked a huge win Friday in the NOC Enid Jets Classic with a 91-66 blow out win over #18 New Mexico.

NOC (8-0) was led by Tyrel Morgan with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

NOC led 43-33 at half and immediately went on an 8-0 run to start the second half building a 51-33 lead.

The closest New Mexico would come was 74-67 in the second half.

"Our game versus #18 New Mexico was a quality win," said coach Donnie Jackson.  "They are a team that can really hurt you on the glass.  They crash ultra hard and that is how they score a lot of their points.  Our guys took the challenge we had for them in blocking them out and trying to control our one shot defense."

"We played with more focus and poise and we also stuck to our defensive game plan by clogging up the paint," he added.  "We have another big game with our non-conference rival Cowley on Tuesday.  Our guys will have to be ready for them to give us their best shot.  They play at an unreal pace and want it to be a high-scoring, high-possession type game.  We will have to rebound and take care of the ball if we want any chance of winning. I would love to see a great crowd on that evening."

NOC shot 57 percent from the field (37/63) and 50 percent from 3-point range (7/14).  New Mexico shot just 42 percent from the floor and 25 percent from 3-point range.

Tyrel Morgan had 20 points and 11 rebounds while Deaveon Bankston and Demaree King had 18 each.  JD Ray had 13 points and seven assists.
