Grisby, Maples named Student Athletes of the Week

Syrus Grisby and Hannah Maples were named Northern Oklahoma College Student Athletes of the Week for Nov. 11.

Grisby is a freshman from Luther High School in Oklahoma City, Maples is a sophomore from Ringwood.

For the week, Maples averaged 10 points per game, 8.8 rebounds per game, shot six for 13 from the three point line and 7 of 8 from the free throw line. She recorded back-to-back double-doubles this weekend in the Tonkawa classic, 21 points and 10 rebounds versus Southwestern Iowa on Friday, and 10 points and 12 rebounds versus Allen on Saturday.

"Hannah (Maples) has been taking on a strong leadership role with our team and has been very productive offensively and defensively," said coach Greg Krause.  "Her versatility is a significant part of her game. She is comfortable playing close to the basket or on the perimeter."

Grisby averaged eight points and six rebounds on six of nine shooting.

"Syrus (Grisby) flashed some of his potential this past weekend," said coach Donnie Jackson.  "He was really impressive against Allen.  He had 12 points and eight rebounds and a monster blocked shot.  If he can be consistent and make rebounding his priority, it can really help the team.  If he does that, he can also make a case to be a starter."
