Mavs Split at Red Devil Classic

The NOC Mavs split games at the Red Devil Classic.  The Mavs dropped the first game to Penn Valley 74-57 and beat the home team Allen County 91-61.

In the first contest, the Mavs found themselves only down 3 at halftime 36-39.  Penn Valley would go on and outscore the Mavs 35-21 in the second half, and won 74-57, while limiting them to just 31% shooting for the game.  Keiodre Perry led the Mavs in scoring with 12 points, followed by Khobe Austin-Johnson with 11 points.

In the second contest, the Mavs started out hot.  They jumped on the home team Allen Red Devils 44-26 at half.  They outscored the Red Devils the rest of the way and ended up winning the contest 91-61.  The Mavs were led in scoring and rebounding by Amir Allen with 16 points and 14 rebounds.  Keiodre Perry followed with 14 points and Demaree King had 12 points.  The Mavs improved to 1-2 on the year.

"I thought we finally showed the effort and energy it takes to win a college basketball game against Allen.  I hope the guys realize how fun it is to play hard and share the ball with their teammates and that was the difference between the two contests," said NOC head coach Donnie Jackson.

The Mavs will try to avenge an earlier loss to the Cowley Tigers on Wednesday, November 8th at 7:30 pm.  The Tigers beat the Mavs 74-68 in the first game of the year in Arkansas City, KS.

"I am looking forward to our home opener.  We need to protect our home court and continue to impove on the defensive end," said Jackson.
