Jonathan Monk is in second year as the assistant coach and camp coordinator for the Maverick Baseball Program.
Monk works with the infielders, assists with the hitters and recruiting efforts within the program.
In his first season, the 2024 Maverick team had a turn around year, finishing 42-19 and reaching the Region championship game for the first time in 10+ seasons. The Mavericks offense became nationally recognized, finishing in the top 10 in most major categories. First place finishes in batting average (.364), hits (726), doubles (181) and triples (30). Second place finishes in runs (634), runs batted in (569), extra base hits (279), and total bases (1,171). Third place finish in slugging percent (.588). Fifth place finish in walks, and an eighth place finish in home runs (68). All 16 sophomores signed with four year programs, including 9 Division 1 signs.
Prior to NOC-Tonkawa, Monk served as the student assistant for the Sam Houston Bearkats in Huntsville, Texas during the 2022-2023 seasons, while earning a degree in Integrated Studies minoring in Kinesiology, Health, and Human Services. He assisted the coaching staff to fulfill the daily operations within the program. During that stretch, the Bearkats won two Western Athletic Conference (WAC) championships, and earned a trip to the 2023 Baton Rouge Regional.
Prior to Sam Houston, Monk served as the student assistant for the Navarro College Baseball program under Head Coach Matt Podjenski and Assistant Coach Brett Doe for the 2020-2021 seasons, while earning an Associate’s Degree in General Studies. He assisted the coaching staff by fulfilling the daily operations of the program, and assisting Coach Doe with infielders and hitters. In 2021, the Bulldogs were the Region 14 conference champions, Region 14 Regional champions, and finished one game short of reaching the World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Monk is also a graduate of Corsicana High School in Corsicana, Texas where he was a student manager for head coach Heath Autrey, one of the winningest coaches in the state. In his senior year, the Corsicana Tigers reached the 2019 State Tournament in Round Rock, Texas, the programs first appearance in the state tournament in over 50 years.
Monk is the son of Ed and Virginia Monk, and is second of three siblings.
