
HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas -- Logan Taylor worked 7.2 innings of shut out baseball while Blade Carver and Eric Harper hit solo home runs in a 7-0 NOC Tonkawa win over Murray State Thursday in the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament in Hot Springs.
Thursday's win advanced the #15 Mavs (50-7) to the winner's bracket Friday against South Arkansas College at 4 p.m. at Majestic Park.
Aidan Zakarewicz had four hits while Will Johnson, Carver, and Bodee Mausser had two hits each.
Taylor (11-2) was dominant allowing just two hits and striking out seven. Aiden Hansen worked the final 1.2 in relief.
NOC jumped on the board early as Jadan Boyce drew a bases loaded walk scoring Aidan Zakarewicz and then Will Johnson's single scored Carson Taylor and NOC had an early 2-0 lead.
The lead would stay 2-0 until the seventh when Carver cranked his 23rd home run to give the Mavs a 3-0 lead.
NOC then blew the game open in the eighth with four runs as Harper homered and then singles by Carver, Zakarewicz, and Bodee Mausser drove in three more runs for a 7-0 lead.
NOC outhit the Aggies 12-2.
