Mavs earn series win over Jets with 3-2 win

NOC Tonkawa earned a series win Monday with a doubleheader sweep of NOC Enid as the Mavs won the second game of the conference doubleheader 3-2.

The #20 Mavs (37-4) improved to 9-3 in conference while #17 NOC Enid (29-10) fell to 4-4 in league.

The Mavs scored single runs in the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead over the Jets.  Blade Carver's solo shot in the first gave the Mavs a 1-0 lead and then Christian Stratis scored on a Caleb Watkins single giving NOC Tonkawa a 2-0 lead after two.

The Jets tied the game at 2-2, then the Mavs pushed across the go-ahead and eventual game winner in the fifth when Watkins scored on a sacrifice fly by Will Johnson.

Braeden Cooch earned the win working six innings allowing two runs on six hits striking out seven.

Kaegan Baker fanned two in the seventh earning the save.

In the two games on Monday, the Mavs pitching staff allowed four runs in 19 innings.
