Mavs fall to South Ark 12-7 in region tourney

ENID, Oklahoma --  The best two offenses squared off in the NJCAA Region 2 Winner's Bracket game Saturday with the South Ark Stars beating the Mavs 12-7.

The two teams combined for 29 hits, the Mavs totalling 14.

South Ark broke open a 3-3 tie with eight unaswered runs building a 10-3 lead.  The Mavs scored four runs over the final two innings but lost 12-7.

Carson Taylor had three hits including two doubles and three runs batted in.  Blade Carver, Ethan Rossi, Elijah Laus, and Larry Edwards, Jr. added two hits each.

Carver added two runs batted in.

Liam McKinney started for the Mavs working the first 3.1 innings before Kaegan Baker and Cale Schroeder worked for the Mavs from the pen.

The Mavs (40-18) face Carl Albert at 1 p.m. Sunday in an elimination game at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
