Mavs play complete game in tourney win over Mountain Home

ENID, Oklahoma -- NOC Tonkawa hit on all phases Thursday night in beating UA Mountain Home 12-5 in the first round of the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament in Enid.

The Mav offense pounded out 16 hits while Logan Taylor provided 6.1 innings of relief in earning the win.

In addition, NOC's defense shined as outfielders Larry Edwards, Jr. and Ethan Rossi each took away home runs from Trailblazer hitters.

Edwards also contributed at the plate with a two hits including a triple and five runs batted in.  Rick Requejo added three hits while Matthew Stancliff, Blade Carver, and Elijah Laus added two hits each.

Luke Shannahan also contributed with a two run home run.

The Mavs trailed 3-0 after one inning but then outscored the Trailblazers 12- 2 the rest of the way.

Taylor relied starter Nakni Anna in the 3rd inning and worked 6.1 innings allowing one uneared run on four hits.

The Mavs (39-17) face UA Rich Mountain at 7 p.m. Friday.
