
Caden Fiveash and Blake Priest combined for a shut out in Game 1 and Cade Tucker and Darian Duhon had four-hit days in Game 2 leading to a Maverick sweep of Western on Sunday.
The Mavs (15-9) won three of four against the Pioneers. NOC is now 5-3 in conference play.
In Game 1, Fiveash worked five innings and Priest the final two as the Mav hurlers scattered nine hits in the seven inning shut out. Fiveash fanned seven while Priest recorded three strikeouts.
NOC scored five early runs to take a 5-0 fourth inning lead and were never threatened in the 6-0 win.
Preston Knott and Duhon had two hits while Tucker had two runs batted in.
In Game 2, the Mavs pounded 18 hits in winning 15-5.
Tucker and Duhon had four hits each while Cash Jay had three hits including a double and five runs batted in.
Matt Stancliff also had three hits while Mitchell Lucero added two. Enrique Alvarez Jr., homered for the Mavs while Ethan Starks added three runs batted in.
Nate Windle worked the first 4.2 innnings while Gage Norvell and Brenden Kamnick each provided scoreless relief for NOC.
NOC hosts Hesston (KS) at 3 p.m. Tuuesday in a non-conference game.
