Bucks Cruise Past #9 Tonkawa; Advance to Region Championship

(May 14, 2021) Enid, Oklahoma – Looking to defend their 2019 Region 2 Championship, the Bucks entered the Region 2 Tournament as the 4 seed. The Bucks semi-final matchup was 9th ranked NOC – Tonkawa. In the previous two meetings this season, Tonkawa took both matches.

In a match that was played on the Tonkawa end of the field, the Bucks were able to hold a 1-0 lead at the half on late goal. At the 41:40 mark, Trev Lewis (Kitchener, Ontario) found the back of the net on the assist from Ntandoyenkosi Tshuma (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe).

Holding the 1-0 lead, the Bucks opened it up on the offensive end of the field with three goals in less that 8 minutes to take a 4-0 lead. Kason Shrum (Broken Arrow, OK) found the back of the net twice on assists from Marcos Pires (Trass Lagoas, Brazil) and Daniel Perez (Wickes, AR). The other goal was scored by Maurice Theart (Parklands, South Africa) assisted by Dawson Sawyer (Brechin, Scotland). The Bucks held a 4-0 lead until Tonkawa added a goal with about 14 minutes remaining in the match, but it was too little too late. The Bucks would win 4-1.

The Bucks play in the Region 2 Championship tomorrow against the winner of Murray State & Rose State at 1 pm at D. Bruce Shelby Field at Enid High School.
