16th Ranked Women's Soccer cruises past National Park College 9-0

The goals came fast and furious for the #16 ranked Mavs in an easy 9-0 win over National Park.   The win improved the Mavs' record to 7-1.

The nation's leading goal scorer Milica Bulatovic scored four goals in the first half and watched from the sidelines in the second half as the Mavericks dismantled the Nighthawks.  Bulatovic scored in the sixth, eighteenth, twenty-ninth, and thirty-third minutes to put the Mavs up 4-0.  Chloe Wilkins and Jaz Furra had assists on two of the goals.  Wilkins also set up Bulatovic's first goal by getting fouled in the box resulting in a penalty kick for Bualtovic.  Midfielder, Samantha Mendez, scored the Mavericks fifth goal in the first half with an assist from Marissa Neil.

Northern played the entire second half with as many reserve players as they could, but still added four goals.  Chloe Wilkins scored her first goals as a Maverick five minutes apart early in the second half with assists coming from Samantha Mendez and Cory TorresJazmine Furra also opened her account as a Mav with a goal midway through the second half.  Mia Yerian was credited with the assist.  Furra would pick up an assist on the last goal when she played a ball into the box to a streaking Josie Jarvis who blasted it into the net.

"I feel for the National Park players," said coach Michael DuRoy.  "They played hard the entire game.  The score just got out of hand.  We tried to possess the ball the whole second half, but we have a few players that haven't been able to find the net either due to injury or bad luck, and those girls needed to see the ball go in the goal.  We played everyone on our roster, and the majority of the starters didn't play the entire second half, but we have some talented players coming off the bench this year.  We only gave up two shots, none on goal, and didn't give up a corner so I was very pleased with that.  We have only conceeded one goal in the last three games.  Our back line led by Rachael Chatterji and Lexi Albright are shutting things down.  I also think Sam Mendez has taken her game to another level in the midfield."

NOC outshot National Park 22-0.  Keepers Jaime Rowlands and Jordan Webster combined for the clean sheet.

The Mavs travel to Miami, Oklahoma, on Thursday to take on Northeastern Oklahoma A&M at 5 p.m.
