Northern Oklahoma College soccer entertained Rose State Sunday afternoon, the women's game ended in a 3-3 draw.
NOC's women (4-6-1) improved to 3-4-1 and fourth place in NJCAA Region 2.
NOC scored in the game's initial minute on a Zoe Athens goal, assisted by Sofie Joergensen. Rose State then scored two goals in the first half and led 2-1, the second on a penalty kick.
NOC in the second half came out quickly again and put a lot of pressure on Rose's back line as Joergensen won the ball and played a through ball to Nancy Herr who took a great touch and slotted the ball inside the far post in the 48th minute.
Six minutes later Skylar Yocham would grab her 7th goal of year as she ran onto a ball from Janet Moreno and calmly placed the ball in the bottom corner. Once again Rose responded fourteen minutes later and got the equalizer tying the game at 3-3.
Rose scored a late goal tying the game and then neither team scored in two 10 minute overtimes.
"This was a massive point for us," said coach Jade Ovendale. "Rose is no pushover and every game against them is a battle. I give credit to the women, because Rose scored a penalty right before the half which could have dampened our spirit."
"However in the second half we came out flying and deserved to score the two goals," she added. "We have a lot of fight in us and the belief is there now that we can get the job done. The women put in a hard shift for 110 minutes and fought for one another. Everyone played well. Kate LaSpisa was solid for us at the back. I thought Emma Peak and Joergensen were fantastic defensively. Madeline Kindred once again came up with big saves for us. Having three different goal scorers is a big positive too."
