NOC women overwhelm Rich Mountain 4-0

The Northern Oklahoma College women scored four second half goals to rout Rich Mountain 4-0 Thursday on a cold, wet day in Tonkawa

NOC (4-6) improved to 3-4 in conference play.

After a scoreless first half, NOC found the net :35  into the second half when Janet Moreno ran onto a great pass from Skylar Yocham.  Moreno rounded the goalkeeper and scored into an empty net.   In the 47th minute Emma Peak would score her first of the year from a direct corner kick that beat everyone in the box to go in past the goalkeeper.  Sofie Joergensen also scored her first career goal in the 58th minute, with a bomb of a shot  from distance which flew over the Rich Mountain's goalkeepers hands.  Peak then added a second goal directly from another corner kick. Keeper Madeline Kindred picked up her third shutout for the year.

"This was another good win for us," said coach Jade Ovendale.  "We had a lot of chances in both halves and even though we failed to convert some good chances in the first, we had the confidence in the second half to keep going. We have a few different players now stepping up and picking up goals, too. I think Sofie Joergensen has been great these past two games. We have had two clean sheets in a row which is fantastic. There is also nothing better than clearing the bench and getting everyone on the field. We will look forward to hosting Rose on Sunday."

Thursday's conference game with Rich Mountain (ARK) was the first ever meeting between the two schools.  Rich Mountain joined the Mavs' conference this year.

NOC hosts Rose State at 2 p.m. Sunday.
