Lady Mavs earn tie at conference leader Rose State

MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma --  The NOC Lady Mavs earned a tie with conference leader Rose State Thursday in Midwest City.

The Lady Mavs (5-5-1 overall, 5-3-1 conference) picked up a goal from Megan Deshazo from a Mayra Vega assist and NOC led 1-0 early in the second half.

Rose State then tied the game at 1-1 with four minutes remaining.  The teams then played two scoreless overtime periods.

"NOC against Rose is always a big game," said interim head coach Jade Ovendale.  "I felt like the team had a great energy coming off the bus and was ready to play straight away. We came out real quick and asked a lot of questions in the first 15 minutes or so, as the half progressed each team had a fair amount of chances to take the lead."

"Madeline Kindred had a great game in goal for us, coming up with 10 big saves," Ovendale said.  "Our defense and midfield soaked up a lot of pressure at times and did really well."

"Our forwards worked hard up top, sometimes forwards can make 10 runs and see the ball once, however it is important for our forwards to remain hungry and continue to make the runs," she added.  "I thought Megan Desha did this so welly.  Kayla Mireles was dangerous in her one-on-ones and was a constant threat to their backline. "

"It was a great game between two good sides. I was very proud of how our girls performed, and was gutted they scored so close to the end. I believe the energy that we carried onto the field really set the tone on the performance. I would like to see that type of energy and enthusiasm before every game."

Rose State leads the conference with a 7-1-1 record while NOC sits in third place with a 5-3-1 record just behind Seminole at 6-2-1.
