Lady Mavs win third straight

Northern Oklahoma College women's soccer won their third straight Wednesday with a 1-0 home win over Redlands.

NOC (3-2) improved to 3-0 in NJCAA Region 2 action while Redlands (4-2) fell to 0-2 in conference play.

The Lady Mavs scored early on Wednesday as Kayla Mireles found net on a header, assisted by Piper Woodard, in the game's 3rd minute.

"I am very pleased with the ladies performance yesterday," said interim head coach Jade Ovendale.   "I think we took a step forward in the right direction and we are still yet to see this team's full potential."

"Each player played a massive part in the win yesterday," she added.   "We are creating a lot of chances, we out shot Redlands 23-5 but we needed to be bit more clinical in the final third."

"Maddie Cochran had an excellent game for us and the back line and goalkeeper Nicole Houston got her first shut out of the year."

NOC hosts Rose State (6-1-1) Sunday at 2 p.m.  Rose is 3-0 in conference play.
