Northern Oklahoma College named Kayla Mireles and Jaime Ponce Student Athletes of the Week for Sept. 10.

Ponce, a sophomore captain from Enid, scored the tying goal against NEO and led the Mavs defense in the shut out of Eastern on Sunday.

"Jaime (Ponce) is such an important piece to our team," said head coach Michael DuRoy.  "He is one of those guys that does everything right on and off the field.  If we need a goal we can put him up front.  If we need to defend we put him in the back.  He is a great overall player."

Mireles, a sophomore from Tulsa Rogers, had a hand in all three goals against NEO with one goal and two assists.

"Kayla (Mireles) has had a great week for us," said interim head coach Jade Ovendale.  "She scored the game winner against NEO and had two assists. She has done well adapting to a couple of different spots that we have needed her to play."
