Lady Mavs win road game at Eastern

WILBURTON, Oklahoma --  Northern Oklahoma College Lady Mavs soccer defeated Eastern Sunday afternoon in Wilburton.

The Lady Mavs (2-2) beat Eastern 2-1.

NOC improved to 2-0 in NJCAA Region II action with the 2-1 win.

The Lady Mavs scored two unassisted goals in the first half, Mayra Vega scored in the 19th minute while Emma Peak added a goal two minutes later.

Eastern cut the lead to 2-1 in the 63rd minute.

Interim head coach Jade Ovendale was pleased with the road win but sees room for improvement.

"I am happy we returned home with the win," Ovendale said.  "However the performance was not at the standard I know that we can play at. We have to make sure we are giving our all, each time we step out on the field. I thought goals corer Mayra Vega worked hard for us in the middle. She was active on both sides of the ball, offensively and defensively."

NOC out shot Eastern 8-3.  Goal keeper Nicole Houston had two saves on three shots.
