NOC crushes Eastern in final home game

Northern Oklahoma College concluded the soccer regular season Monday cruising to a 6-1 win.

The Lady Mavs finished the regular season conference record at 6-4-1 and finished third in conference play.

"It's a great day for soccer and the sophomores to end the regular season with a win," said interim head coach Jade Ovendale.  "I am really happy we were able to get everyone on the field and playing. I have a lot of respect for the opposition (Eastern), they traveled down with only eleven players and their girls worked hard the full ninety minutes. Games like this make you appreciate the genuine love that players and coaches have for the game. "

NOC scored quickly with Megan Deshazo scoring 3 minutes into the game. More goals followed from Mayra Vega, Kayla Mireles, and Alondra Castillo. Piper Woodard, Megan Deshazo, and Emma Peak picked up the assists. In the second half two more goals were scored by Kayla Mireles, and Savannah Nelson.

"I want to thank our sophomores, Megan Deshazo, Mayra Vega, Daisy Brown, Marybel Garcia, Kayla Mireles, Alicia Chain, Nicole Houston, Alondra Castillo, and Jonnie Carson for all their hard work throughout their careers at Northern Oklahoma College," Ovendale added.   "I am proud of everything they have achieved as a student-athlete and I know they will go on to do great things in the future. It was nice to finish with a win for them."

The Lady Mavs are set to play Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at NEO in Miami in the Region 2 playoffs.  The winner of the four team regional advances to district plays next week.
