Lady Mavs pick up big road win at NEO

MIAMI, Oklahoma --  The NOC Lady Mavs (5-4) scored two second half goals to win 2-1 at NEO Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Mavs used second half goals from Kate LaSpisa and Megan Deshazo to claim a 2-1 win over NEO.

LaSpisa scored in the 74th minute while Kayla Mireles assisted Deshazo on the go-ahead goal in the 83rd minute.

"NEO is always a difficult away game there is so much history between the two teams," said coach Jade Ovendale.   "We went into the half a goal down. However at the half we tweaked a couple of things and came out really strong in the second half."

"It was a great team win yesterday," Ovendale added.   "Everyone worked really hard to grind out the result. It was not the prettiest of games at times. I was really happy for Kate (LaSpisa).  She has been out for a long time due to an injury she picked up at the beginning of the season. It was a big goal for us. A few players played the whole 90 minutes and worked hard the entire time. To come down from 1-0 and to come out 2-1 on the road is a great result."

The Lady Mavs are 5-2 in conference play, behind Rose State (6-1)

The Mavericks next game is Thursday when they host Eastern Oklahoma State College with the Lady Mavs starting at 2 p.m.
