NOC sophomore soccer player Gifty Ayew Asare was named 3rd Team NJCAA All-American this week.
Asare scored 27 goals and had seven assists for the Lady Mavericks. She had five game winning goals in 2017. The Lady Mavericks finished the year 16-2-1 and advanced to the NJCAA Soccer District Playoffs.
For her career, Asare scored 50 goals and had 15 assists including six game winners.
Lady Maverick coach Juan de Dios Castillo said, "We were lucky to have a player like Gifty. She truly loves NOC and her teammates. I'm very happy and proud of her accomplishments and that I was able to coach her for two years."
Asare is from Ghana.
Region II Rose State Goalkeeper Revella Fisher was a 2nd team selection to the squad.
