Women's Win OCAC Title Undefeated

The Lady Mavs finished their regular season undefeated in the OCAC Conference (10-0) with an away victory of 5-0 against Seminole College. The last time they won their conference undefeated was back in 2011.

One of the highlights of the game was that Gifty Ayew Asare scored 4 goals in the match putting her at 25 in the season just 4 goals away to tie NOC all time record of most goals in a season set by All-American BreAnn Tolleson who now plays for Rogers State University. Asare is now the second best scorer in the program's history with 48 career goals as a Lady Mav. Tolleson holds the record with 56 career goals at NOC.

The other hightlight was that freshman Jaycie Calderon scored her second goal of the season on her second consecutitve game played. Calderon came back 2 weeks ago from a knee surgery that left her out for almost the entire season although she seems to be ready to fight for a spot on Coach Castillo's team. "Jaycie is the clear example of the mentality we want from all of our players. She has been out for quite some time but she has been ready mentally and knew that when she had the chance she was going to fight for a spot. She works extra hard every practice, goes 100% all the time, pushes her teammates and is coachable.  That's what we want all of our players to do so they make the team more competitive, sometimes some players feel that because they start some games they will always be starters. Not on my team. In my team you need to prove you want to earn a spot working hard every practice. I don't give them a chace, they earn it" said Coach Castillo.
