NOC Soccer Players of the Week

The NOC Soccer Student Athletes of the Week for Oct. 16 are Rebekah Brantley and Jamie Ponce.

Brantley, a sophomore from Broken Arrow has been a pivotal piece in the midfield this season.

"Bekah once again proved to be a constant engine in the middle," said coach Juan de Dios Castillo.   "She recovered so many balls in the middle we lost count.  She also got fouled in the box creating the chance to score on a penalty kick and scored a goal on her own. She is such a perfectionist and that makes her even better."

The men's soccer student athlete of the week is Jamie Ponce, freshman forward from Enid.

Ponce scored the winning goal this week in the Mavericks 3-1 win over NEO.  Jaime switched positions from center mid to center forward after the eighth game this season.  He has scored six goals and three assists and the Mavs have won seven games in a row since the change.

"Jaime deserves a lot of credit for our winning streak," said head coach Michael DuRoy.    "We were really struggling to score goals and he came to me and suggested the position change.  He has really helped to turn our season around."
