The Lady Mavs lost to Western 70-59 at the Foster-Piper Fieldhouse in Tonkawa.

The Lady Mavs (3-15) fell to 0-6 in league play while Western improved to 10-8) and 3-3 in OCAC play.

A slow start doomed the Lady Mavs Monday night against Western in the 11 point loss.

Western jumped out to an 18-3 first quarter lead forcing NOC to play catch-up the entire night.

NOC trailed 43-19 at half but rallied in the second half cutting the Western lead to 65-58 with 1:11 to play before losing 70-59.

Hannah Maples led the Lady Mavs with 18 while Lauren Coates added 14 from the NOC bench.

"Inserting Lauren Coates and Caitlin Bailey into the starting lineup in the second half added a lot of energy to our defense which in turn helped our production on offense," said coach Greg Krause.   "Even though we didn't win, that second half effort will add positive momentum going into the next game."
