NOC Tonkawa athletics named Tahanee Bennell and Mike Downing as basketball Student Athletes of the Week for Feb. 18.

Bennell is a sophomore from Turners Beach, Tasmania, Australia while Downing is a sophomore from Chicago, Illinois.

For the conference game last week, Bennell had 15 points, 13 assists, eight rebounds, three steals, and shot 50 percent from the 3-point line.

"Tahanee played one of her best games of the year versus Eastern," said coach Greg Krause.   "It looks like she is over her upper respiratory illness and ready for the stretch run."

Downing had seven points and 10 rebounds in a comeback win over Eastern.

"Mike (Downing) had a great week of practice and his energy carried over onto the floor against Eastern," said coach Donnie Jackson.  "He really grabbed big offensive rebounds for us down the stretch, his tip in to give us the lead was a big play."
