Maverick basketball players Deon Berrien and Mia Brown were named Student Athletes of the Week for Feb. 11.
Berrien is a sophomore forward from Augusta, Georgia, while Brown is a freshman guard from Mustang.
Berrien had two double doubles for the week averaging 27 points and 16 rebounds in two Maverick wins.
"Deon (Berrien) had an exceptional week for us," said coach Donnie Jackson. "He helped lead us to two wins, the thing that stood out to me was that he rebounded at a high level. If he can continue to do that, it will go a long way to finishing the rest of the season strong leading into the conference tournament."
For the week, Brown averaged 10 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists per game, 2.5 steals, and shot 53.8% from the field.
"Mia (Brown)is running the point guard position with great efficiency," said coach Greg Krause. "In addition to impacting every stat category, her turnover rate is excellent for playing over 30 minutes a game."
