Using a collapsing defense on Connors' leading scorer Shaniqua Patterson, the Lady Mavs (7-13) frustrated Connors 61-50 Monday night at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse.

NOC held Patterson to 15 while Mia Brown had 15 while Chelsea Rhoades and Hannah Maples had 12 each for the Lady Mavs.

"Our defense did a nice job helping down on their two leading scorers, and covering their leading shooter from the three point line," said coach Greg Krause.   "Hannah (Maples) played well for us on both ends. Mia (Brown) did a good job handling the team at point guard. Lexi (Bishop) came off the bench and did a great job defending and scoring some big buckets."

The Lady Mavs controlled the game from the outset building a 27-19 halftime lead.  Connors cut the lead to 36-31 in the third quarter but a 9-5 NOC run gave the Lady Mavs a 45-36 lead after the third.

Connors was never closer than seven the rest of the way.

The Lady Mavs improved to 4-6 in league play while Connors (13-9) fell to 5-5 in conference play.

NOC hosts NOC-Enid Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.
