ENID, Oklahoma -- The Northern Oklahoma College Lady Mavs split two games at the Chick-Fil-A Classic in Enid this past weekend.
NOC (3-4) blitzed Hesston 86-53 on Friday and then fell to Fort Scott 79-72 Saturday afternoon.
Lady Mavs 86, Hesston 53
NOC broke open a tight game at half with a 31-12 third quarter to whip the Larks. NOC led 31-23 at half and built a 62-35 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Tahanee Bennell led four Lady Mavs in double figures with 15 points. Mia Brown added 13, Jaiden Biddy and Hannah Maples had 12 each.
Bennell had 10 points in the third quarter when the Lady Mavs broke the game open.
Fort Scott 79, Lady Mavs 72
NOC built an early lead over Fort Scott but couldn't hold it losing 79-72.
The Lady Mavs led 23-13 in the second quarter and held a 37-32 halftime lead. The Lady Mavs held a slim 72-70 lead after three quarters but Fort Scott outscored the Lady Mavs 21-12 in the fourth to win 79-72.
Fort Scott built a 72-67 lead late, then Mia Brown cut the lead to 72-70 but that was as close as the Lady Mavs would get.
Brown had 21 to lead the Lady Mavs while Carlee Murray added 17 and Hannah Maples 15. Murray added seven rebounds while Brown had nine assists. Murray hit five 3-pointers for NOC.
