Lady Mavs beat Connors, win fourth straight

WARNER, Oklahoma -- The NOC Lady Mavericks were 62-56 winners at Connors Monday night in Warner.

Monday's 62-56 win over Connors was the Lady Mavs fourth straight in and improved the Lady Mavs record to 11-15.  The Lady Mavs also improved their OCAC mark to 7-8 with just one conference game remaining.

Sabela Reigosa Pernas led the Lad Mavs with 20 points while Tahanee Bennell added 12, Kaitlyn Hodgins 11 and Hannah Nealis 10.

NOC took a 28-26 lead into the halftime dressing room before outscoring Connors 23-17 in the third quarter to take a 51-43 lead heading into the final quarter.

Connors did cut the lead three late but the Lady Mavs held on the free throw line preserving the six point win.

Many of NOC's games lately have been up tempo affairs while Monday's game was a grinder, according to coach Greg Krause.

"The key to this win was our team defense in a grind type of game," Krause said.   "The tempo was more deliberate and we did a good job defending the lane and rotating out to their shooters."
