Lady Mavs drop conference game to Western

The Lady Mavs lost Western 80-57 in Region II action Thursday night at Foster Piper Fieldhouse in Tonkawa.

The NOC women dropped to 7-13, 3-6 in conference play.

NOC was led by sophomore guard Hannah Nealis with 17 points while freshman guard Tahanee Bennell added 13.

"We got off to a slow start and continued to shoot poorly throughout the game," said head coach Greg Krause.  "Western did a good job of disrupting our passing lanes on offense and they did a good job keeping us off the boards. The rigors of the conference schedule have affected our energy level. We have to get back to our aggressive style of play which is when we are at our best."

Western led from the outset building a 36-26 halftime lead.  The Lady Mavs found themselves down 50-36 in the third quarter before rallying to 53-44 late in the third on a Hannah Nealis basket.

Western then hit the Lady Mavs with a big run early in the 4th quarter to build a 71-49 lead.
